DRC 2018 Ebola outbreaks
The latest outbreak, in DRC's northeastern North Kivu province, is the country's tenth Ebola outbreak in 40 years. With more than 300 cases now recorded it is the country's largest-ever known Ebola outbreak. It is also the third epidemic since the end of the outbreak in West Africa in 2016 – and comes less than one month since the previous outbreak, in nearby Equateur province, was declared over. The previous outbreak, which affected the city of Mbandaka, included 38 confirmed cases of Ebola and claimed 14 lives.
